Thanks a lot for your review and the colossal work you are doing for the RL community!
I enjoyed this game a lot, please keep working on it. I'd like to offer some suggestions to improve it:
1. Add a key/legend to explain the on-screen symbols. Please make it clearer how mines and research labs work.
2. Could research & build menus be permanently on screen?
3. Needs some explanation for each option on the research screen.
4. I got to a point where under the research menu I had: starline, Homeworld shield project and Energy Upgrade 3 were shown greyed out with numbers in square brackets beside them (what do they mean?). No matter which square I went to, none of the options were available - is this a bug? I then had to give up.
5. It needs a hover over / peek ahead type option, currently you just have to blindly enter a square without knowing anything about it.
6. Solar panels shown on the ship, but they don't generate energy ;-)
Fun, short little game.
I like the Windows 95 style on this. Makes me feel like I'm playing a really old game, in a good way. It could use a sound or two... like a "click" sound on the buttons.
I'm not sure what I was doing wrong, but I really hate those pylons. Nothing good EVER came out of a pylon, at least not for me. Also, I wormholed to a spot that trapped me in one playthrough and was forced to rage-quit!
Thanks a lot for your feedback! I wish to add sounds some day, but I have no experience with it and haven't been able to do this in 7-day gamejam.
Pylons deal some heavy damage, but they lead to one of the possible endings if you have enough health to open them. Wormholes can be risky, but I believed that suits well the early 90's games theme =)
